ARRAY Executive Contributes to Analysis of Border Patrol’s New National Strategy

Jay Kalath Quoted in HSToday’s Overview

Greenbelt, MD, May 16, 2012 The Border Patrol’s first new strategy in 8 years has been released. In short, it no longer is based on an outdated methodology of determining whether the number of apprehensions of illegal aliens means a more secure border, but rather on what the agency needs to be doing better to deal with the new security environment.

Jay Kalath, Vice President, General Manager for National Security Operations and Chief Technology Officer, points out that there are big changes in the strategy. He said that “there will be more integrated data analysis related to border situational awareness” to effectively use intelligence and trend analysis in real time. And, as the architect of an innovative project for the Border Control, he is well placed to comment on the advanced collaboration technologies that have just been designed to keep the northern border secure without hampering trade and travel. For more on the new strategy and related congressional testimony by the General Accounting Office, see HSToday.
